ROC-P
Renewal of Certification Process (ROC-P) is a continuous, rolling process documenting achievement in four critical areas of pediatric dentistry. Completion of the four areas is required of Time-limited Diplomates and strongly recommended for Unlimited Diplomates. The Renewal of Certification process is designed to meet rapidly changing science and technology head on, assisting Diplomates to provide the highest quality and healthcare to patients.
Part 1: Professional Standing
Diplomates will complete a credentialing survey when submitting your Annual Diplomate Renewal fees. With the survey, you will attest that you have a valid, unrestricted and unchallenged dental license in the state or jurisdiction in which you practice.
Part 2: A commitment to lifelong learning, continuing scholarship and improvement
Diplomates will document 15 Continuing Education hours annually. Attendance at a comprehensive review course in pediatric dentistry is also required at least once during the 10-year period. This continuing education is intended to guide you in maintaining your knowledge and skills. Continuing education activities will be tracked in a password-protected “My Portfolio” pages on the ROC-P website.
Part 3: Cognitive expertise measured by examination
Diplomates with time-limited certificates must successfully complete a 50-question multiple choice Internet-based Renewal of Certification examination every 10 years. This demonstrates a continued in-depth knowledge and competency of the contemporary practice of pediatric dentistry.
Part 4: Satisfactory performance in practice/continuous quality improvement
Diplomates with time-limited certificates will complete two Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) modules each year, utilizing the most current American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) Policies and Guidelines. As with all parts of ROC-P, a record of your CQI journey will be maintained on a password-protected “My Portfolio” page on the ROC-P website.
