ABPD Board of Director Highlight – Jeffrey Mabry, D.D.S., M.S.

Jeffrey Mabry, DDS, MS was appointed assistant professor in pediatric dentistry at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio in 2006 and has recently been promoted to professor at the same institution.  Since 2006, he has also served as Director of the Dental Center for Children at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.

Dr. Mabry completed his dental degree at the Oklahoma College of Dentistry (1980), followed by a general anesthesia externship at the Oklahoma Teaching Hospitals (1980).  He then completed a general practice residency at Oklahoma Children’s Memorial Hospital (1981-82).  Dr. Mabry received his pediatric dental training and master’s degree from the University of Minnesota (1982-84). His professional career includes 26 years of combined federal service, including nine years as a commissioned officer in the United States Public Health Service (Indian Health Service), followed by 17 years in the United States Air Force. During his last tour, he served as special consultant to the USAF Surgeon General in Pediatric Dentistry.

After becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD) in 1991, Dr. Mabry served as President of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (2009-10), where he served on the Board of Directors from 2002-2005.  For over ten years, Dr. Mabry has volunteered with ABPD as a Consultant (2007-09), Examiner (2010-present), Part Leader (2010-2012), Chair (2013-16) of the Oral Clinical Examination and has served on the Board of Directors since 2012.  Dr. Mabry is currently serving as ABPD President and Chair of the Examination and Nominations Committee.

He and his wife, Anne, have three children and reside in San Antonio, Texas. Supporting a healthy lifestyle at home and work, Dr. Mabry is an avid runner and health enthusiast.
