How To Prepare for the 2018 Qualifying Examination
The American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD) Qualifying Examination (QE) is one examination of the two-part certification process for Diplomate status in the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. The examination is designed to generate evidence toward validation of the individual's advanced training in pediatric dentistry. The QE must be successfully completed prior to applying for the Oral Clinical Examination (OCE).
Based on the response from 2017 QE participants, the five most used methods used to prepare for the QE are attending a review course or lecture, reviewing articles from current scientific literature, reviewing recommended textbooks, reviewing sample questions on ABPD website and studying with colleagues.
Most applicants stated their primary source of information regarding content for the QE came from the AAPD Comprehensive Review Course, the Qualifying Examination Overview and discussing what to expect with colleagues or Program Directors.
