COVID-19 Updates

Qualifying Examination (QE) Update:

June 3, 2020  - ABPD is pleased to announce the 2020 QE has been rescheduled for August 19, 2020.

ABPD has carefully investigated options for the delivery of the 2020 QE. With the uncertainty of the global pandemic, social distancing requirements and other restrictions, outlined below you will see the two different delivery options:

1. Live Online Proctoring (LoP) – ABPD has partnered with Scantron/Examinty to allow candidates to complete the examination from a remote location, such as your home or office, using your own computer and a stable internet connection.
2. Scantron Network of Testing Centers – This option is your traditional testing center option with a different network of test centers. Click here to search by location; availability may be limited with social distancing requirements of 50% capacity.

Oral Clinical Examination Update:

June 5, 2020 - Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD) Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cancel the Oral Clinical Examination (OCE) scheduled in 2020.

As of today, ABPD’s testing center cannot guarantee that the examination will occur this September and has suggested that the Board consider rescheduling to a later date. In respect of everyone’s time and safety, the Board concluded that cancelling the OCE is the safe and responsible action for this year. We will continue to closely monitor information provided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and investigate all options to conduct an examination in the future. Once a decision is made, we will reach out to those scheduled to take the examination as soon as we have additional information.

Board Candidates will receive a full refund, and will be contacted by an ABPD staff member in the next few weeks. In the meantime, please feel free to contact Headquarters via email, info@abpd.org, with any questions.

ABPD extends our best wishes to you and we appreciate your patience and understanding. Stay healthy!
