2022 Qualifying Examination Application Now Open
The application for the 2022 Qualifying Examination (QE) is open until December 15, 2021.
The Qualifying Examination (QE) is the first of a two-part American Board of Pediatric Dentistry certification process.
This 4-hour examination consists of 200 multiple-choice questions covering eight (8) domains pertaining to scientific and biological principles.
The 2022 QE is scheduled for Monday, May 2, 2022, at Pearson Vue Testing Centers. The application is available until December 15 and can be accessed through ABPD’s online portal.
Are you eligible to apply?
Pediatric Dentists in their last year of residency or those that have previously completed their advanced education in Pediatric Dentistry are eligible to apply.
If you decide to take the examination during your last year of residency, you will be required to show evidence of program completion and active dental license by December 30 following the examination to receive the results.

2022 Examination Fee Refund Deadline: January 3, 2022
- Cancellation more than 4 months prior to examination = full refund, less $100 processing fee
- Cancellation within 4 months of the examination date = forfeiture of the examination fee
- Failure to appear for the scheduled testing appointment = forfeiture of the examination fee
