Starting with the 2023 - 2024 Renewal Year (Dec 1, 2023 - Nov 30, 2024) the Annual Diplomate Renewal fee will increase to $275 annually.

This increase will cover rising costs associated with the administration and development of the Renewal of Certification Process (ROC-P). ABPD's goal is to provide you with high-value resources that not only allow ABPD to offer CERP continuing education credits but also offer meaningful connections to your day-to-day practice. Participation in ROC-P provides diplomates with tools and resources for lifelong learning and improvement, which is required for pediatric dentistry to remain a recognized dental specialty by the National Commission on Recognition of Dental Specialities and Certifying Boards.

ABPD is committed to financial stewardship and transparency regarding certification program costs. As you can see from the fee timeline above, the ADR fee has not been raised since 2010. However, annual expenses that ABPD must pay for (examinations, certification, operations) have been steadily increasing over the years.

In a cost comparison with the dental specialty boards ABPD found that the 2023 ADR fees ranged from $200 to $575, with ABPD's fee as the lowest and the American Board of Oral Pathology as the highest. While considering a fee increase, it was important to ABPD that the ADR fee was kept within the range of fees of the other dental specialty boards.

The ABPD Board of Directors is guided by ABPD's strategic plan which includes ensuring a meaningful and valid certification process and maintaining financial stability to advance the ABPD Mission:

Every child, every adolescent, and every individual with special needs deserves quality care.

ABPD appreciates your commitment to your diplomate status and to continuous lifelong learning.
