OCE Examination Information

The following videos have been created to help you become familiar with what you can expect the day of your examination.

 

Examination Day

What to Bring

Personal Items

  • Small personal items, such as purses, phones, keys, and small electronic items, such as watches, can be brought to the testing center. These items will be placed in a locker and cannot be accessed during the break.

  • A light snack, such as a granola bar, will be available in the examination room.

  • Larger personal items will not be allowed and should not be brought to registration. Please make other arrangements for your larger personal items.

Registration and Orientation

  • Registration will occur at the testing center and will last approximately 20 minutes.
  • During registration, you will be required to present a valid government ID.
  • After registration, a brief candidate orientation will be provided, and there will be a restroom break.
  • After orientation, you will proceed to your examination room.

Monitoring of Oral Examinations

To support examiner training and quality assurance processes, examinations may be monitored; however, they will not be recorded.

Examination Overview

The examination consists of two segments, each lasting a minimum of 1 hour and up to 1 hour and 15 minutes. Each segment will be administered by two examiners. A short break will be provided between segments, during which candidates may use the restroom.
